Solution Consultant – R&D

About the role

Benchling is building an AI platform for biotech R&D and needs a Solution Consultant to lead solution design for its largest customers and prospects. The role bridges scientific R&D processes with enterprise SaaS solutions, working closely with sales, professional services and product teams.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with account executives and leadership to develop account strategies and plan customer engagements that result in compelling solutions.
• Discover and document customer needs, translate them into detailed solutions that align with Benchling’s capabilities and the customer’s technology landscape.
• Present and demonstrate solutions, address objections, and ensure competitive positioning against alternatives.
• Provide feedback to product management on customer requirements and industry trends to influence the product roadmap.
• Create reusable solution content, train internal teams, and mentor fellow Solution Consultants.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a life‑science discipline (e.g., Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry).
• Minimum 4 years of professional experience, preferably in a customer‑facing role within biotech or pharma.
• Comfortable discussing scientific concepts with senior scientific and IT leaders.
• Willingness to travel 25‑30% to customer sites and fluency in English (German or French a plus).

Required skills

• Experience with scientific/informatics software such as LIMS or ELN.
• Familiarity with antibody engineering software (plus).
• Ability to model scientific data and craft solution architectures.
