Special Procedures Intern

About the role

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is offering a full‑time internship within its Special Procedures Sections. The role is based in Geneva, Switzerland and supports thematic research, policy development and the preparation of tools and learning packages for a wide range of human‑rights topics.

Key responsibilities

• Assist mandate holders (Special Rapporteurs, Working Groups, Independent Experts) in preparing reports and policy briefs on thematic human‑rights issues.
• Conduct literature reviews, data collection and analysis related to specific Special Procedures mandates.
• Support the development of advocacy tools, training materials and learning packages for UN bodies and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to the drafting of background notes, briefing documents and communication materials.
• Participate in meetings and follow‑up actions with experts and partner organisations.

Required profile

• Availability for a full‑time assignment of three months, renewable up to six months.
• Based in Geneva, Switzerland for the duration of the internship.
