Senior Legal Officer – Professional (Geneva)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Senior Legal Officer to join its Office of Legal Affairs in Geneva. The role provides high‑level legal advice and support to senior management and operational units, ensuring that IOM’s activities comply with its legal framework.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice to the Director General, Deputy Directors General, Regional Offices, Country Offices and other departments.
• Ensure IOM operations are carried out in accordance with the IOM Constitution, governing‑body decisions, Unified Staff Regulations, Financial Regulations, internal governance instruments and applicable international law.
• Draft, review and interpret legal documents, policies and contracts relevant to migration programmes.
• Support the development and implementation of legal strategies that align with IOM’s mission and objectives.

Required profile

• Relevant legal qualifications and professional experience in an international or multilateral setting.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex legal frameworks.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
