STA Programme Management Intern

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a motivated intern to support the Science and Technical Assistance (STA) branch in Geneva. Working within an international, multidisciplinary team, you will assist in delivering cross‑cutting activities across the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research and analysis on technical and policy issues related to the sound management of chemicals and waste.
• Prepare technical documents, briefing notes, presentations and communication materials.
• Support the planning and organization of meetings, workshops, webinars and other capacity‑building activities.
• Assist with project implementation, monitoring and reporting.
• Contribute to knowledge‑management and information‑sharing initiatives.
• Provide general support to collaboration with Parties, regional centres, partner organisations and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or having completed the final academic year of a first university degree (minimum bachelor’s) in business management, public administration, international law (including environmental law) or environmental management (including chemicals and waste).
• Alternatively, enrolled in or having completed a graduate programme (second degree or higher).
• No professional work experience required.
