Strategic Buyer (m/f/d)

About the role

We are seeking a Strategic Buyer to join an international pharmaceutical client in Basel on a 6‑month fixed‑term contract. You will work closely with Global Category Managers and site stakeholders to drive sourcing excellence, ensure business continuity, and deliver cost savings across a portfolio of up to €50 million in annual spend.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Global Category Managers to develop and implement site‑level sourcing strategies.
• Lead tendering, negotiation, contracting and supplier onboarding for delegated spend.
• Identify and execute savings initiatives, building a pipeline of projects and tracking performance.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships, conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation plans.
• Support rollout of procurement policies, tools, e‑catalogues and e‑auctions.
• Provide spend forecasts and savings reports to site controllers and management.

Required profile

• Proven experience in strategic procurement or category management, preferably within the pharmaceutical sector.
• Demonstrated ability to manage high‑value spend (up to €50 million) and deliver measurable cost reductions.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience in supplier risk assessment and mitigation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
