Substitute Teacher for the High School

About the role

ISZL is seeking qualified substitute teachers to provide ad‑hoc coverage for high school classes (Grades 9‑12) on short notice. The role involves following lesson plans, supporting students, and communicating with staff while maintaining school routines.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver planned lessons for any subject across Grades 9‑12, including specialist sessions.
• Provide constructive feedback to students and report observations to the regular teacher.
• Maintain classroom routines and explain any temporary changes to students.
• Monitor and support students with medical, learning, or behavioural needs.
• Communicate general information to parents and refer detailed queries to the teacher.
• Assist with outdoor learning activities and lunchroom supervision.
• Perform additional duties assigned by the High School Principal or Assistant Principals.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher with experience in high school education.
• Strong organisational, problem‑solving and communication skills in English.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility, confidentiality and capacity to work under pressure.
• Swiss or EU passport/valid Swiss work permit (or approved visa).
