Sustainability Reporting & Communications Project Officer

About the role

The Sustainability Reporting & Communications Project Officer will join CERN's Sustainability Office within the Organisational Support & Improvement team. The role focuses on delivering CERN's sustainability reports and creating engaging communications that support a culture of sustainability across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Support the planning, production and publication of CERN's 2025‑2026 Sustainability Report and prepare for the 2027‑2028 cycle.
• Write and edit social and governance content, ensuring alignment with GRI standards and clarity for diverse audiences.
• Maintain the project plan, timeline and approvals process, guaranteeing on‑time delivery.
• Create multi‑channel content (web, social media, short articles) consistent with CERN’s sustainability strategy.
• Contribute to an internal e‑learning module on sustainability.
• Assist with sustainability‑related campaigns and events.
• Monitor regulatory developments and evolving reporting frameworks (GRI, CSRD, ESRS) relevant to CERN’s ESG framework.

Required profile

• Proven experience drafting sustainability or ESG reports in corporate, NGO, research or public‑sector contexts, or as a consultant.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi‑workstream projects with strict deadlines and documented governance.
• Experience developing communications plans and outreach activities (desirable).
• Familiarity with digital content management systems and sustainability microsites (desirable).
• Background in scientific, academic or intergovernmental environments (desirable).

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of GRI reporting standards.
• Understanding of CSRD and ESRS frameworks.
• Experience with digital content management systems.
