Team Leader Systems Software (80-100%)

About the role

Zurich Instruments, part of the Rohde & Schwarz Group, develops advanced test and measurement instruments and control electronics for quantum computing. Its products combine a deep stack of electronics and control software, with increasing emphasis on tight, low-latency integration with CPUs and GPUs. As Team Leader Systems Software (80-100%), you will lead a small group of proven experts in the Data Transfer team, which accelerates this transition, and report directly to the VP R&D.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the high-performance data path team and drive CPU/GPU integration for next-generation quantum computing instruments.
• Drive all aspects of people development in close collaboration with the HR team.
• Take part in architecture decisions for backend and server software.
• Build engineering capability, manage technical debt and optimize delivery processes.
• Own the delivery of features.
• Align with stakeholders such as product management, cross-functional agile teams or the Engineering Productivity team.

Required profile

• MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years leading a software engineering team, with strong communication and organizational skills.

Required skills

• Broad C++ experience in a professional environment.
• Familiarity with networking protocols and interfacing with firmware or specialized hardware.
• Nice to have: experience with CUDA, Python or Rust; exposure to RDMA/RoCE, high-performance computing or low-latency systems; background in controlling lab equipment.
