About the role

The Department of Physics at the University of Basel seeks a tenure‑track assistant professor specializing in theoretical quantum condensed matter physics. The successful candidate will lead an independent research program and participate in teaching across undergraduate and graduate levels.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an excellent research agenda in theoretical quantum condensed matter physics.
• Teach and supervise students at all academic levels, including lectures, seminars, and thesis supervision.

Required profile

• Outstanding theoretical physicist with a strong publication record in quantum condensed matter physics.
• PhD in physics or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate research with the University of Basel’s activities in quantum technologies and related national research centres.
