Trade Facilitation Internship

About the role

The Trade Facilitation Intern will support UNCTAD's Trade Facilitation Section in research, analysis and the preparation of training and outreach materials on customs, transit and supply‑chain technologies. The three‑month internship starts in September 2026, with a possible extension, and can be undertaken either onsite in Geneva or remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in online meetings with the supervisor and team.
• Conduct research and analysis on trade facilitation, customs, transit and new supply‑chain technologies.
• Assist in preparing and standardising training modules for the UNCTAD Empowerment programme.
• Produce digital and paper‑based materials such as brochures, presentations and articles.
• Support the organisation of in‑person and online workshops, from preparation to final reporting.
• Draft short documents, develop charts and graphs as required.
• Provide substantive support for presentations, project documents and project management tasks.

Required profile

• Current university student or recent graduate with interest in trade facilitation and development.
• Strong analytical and writing skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• For onsite work, a valid visa for Switzerland is required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Basic data visualisation skills (charts, graphs).
• Effective internet research abilities.
