UNDRR Observatory Internship – Data Analysis & Communications

About the role

The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is seeking a motivated intern to support its Global Observatory on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Financing. This six‑month, full‑time, onsite internship in Geneva will provide hands‑on experience in data analysis, visualization, and communication within a leading UN agency.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and organize information on national DRR financing systems, using tools such as Microsoft CoPilot.
• Develop communication materials—including infographics, short videos, presentations, and other knowledge products—to raise awareness of the Observatory.
• Create visualisations (maps, graphs, dashboards) with MS Power BI and prepare summary tables for reporting.
• Draft analytical notes, background briefs, presentations, and report sections summarising findings.
• Provide ad‑hoc support for meetings, workshops, and outreach activities, including minute‑taking and preparation of talking points.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently completed a graduate programme (e.g., Master’s degree) in a relevant field such as international development, finance, data science, or communications.
• Strong interest in disaster risk reduction and global financing mechanisms.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
