About the role
We are seeking an exceptional enterprise leader to serve as Vice President, Communications & Public Affairs (CPA) for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) within Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine. This executive role will shape the environment in which the business operates, protect and enhance trust in the company, and accelerate the region’s most important business, policy, access and reputational priorities.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of the CPA strategy across EMEA, aligning it with global Innovative Medicine and regional business priorities while ensuring clear accountability and measurable outcomes.
- Use geopolitical, policy, stakeholder and competitive intelligence to anticipate shifts, identify opportunities and risks, and influence both global and regional decisions.
- Protect and strengthen trust in Johnson & Johnson through proactive reputation leadership, disciplined issue preparedness and decisive crisis response.
- Drive cross‑sector alignment with MedTech and other enterprise partners to present a unified Johnson & Johnson voice on priority reputational topics.
- Advance therapeutic‑area priorities by shaping integrated communications across earned, owned, paid, social and digital channels, congresses, patient advocacy and stakeholder engagement.
- Execute an integrated public‑affairs strategy that partners with market access, government affairs, medical affairs and commercial leaders to shape policy debates and improve patient access to innovative medicines.
- Provide high‑impact executive counsel to the EMEA Company Group Chair and regional leadership, guiding business and reputational decisions.
- Define outcome‑based metrics, champion modern data‑driven capabilities and simplify processes to scale shared content and tools.
- Lead, inspire and develop a diverse CPA organization of roughly 40 professionals, building succession pipelines and fostering an inclusive culture.
Required profile
- 15+ years of progressively senior leadership experience in Communications, Corporate Affairs or Public Affairs, preferably within the pharmaceutical or broader healthcare sector.
- Proven success leading a sizable, geographically dispersed function in a complex global matrix organization.
- Deep understanding of the diverse geopolitical, healthcare, media and stakeholder landscape across EMEA.
- Demonstrated ability to translate global strategy into regional and market execution and to influence senior business and policy decisions.
- Strong executive counseling, crisis‑management and stakeholder‑engagement capabilities.
