Web Assistant

About the role

The Web Assistant will support the Communications and Public Mobilization Section of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva. Reporting to the Head of the Web Unit, the role ensures the OHCHR website is accurate, accessible and up‑to‑date.

Key responsibilities

• Manage web content on OHCHR.org, including creation, updates, deletions and quality control.
• Provide help‑desk support, respond to content inquiries and resolve errors.
• Monitor internal and external links, copyright compliance and UN/OHCHR web guidelines.
• Maintain the Spanish version of the site and coordinate translations using AGT and MemoQ.
• Customize pages and perform user‑acceptance testing in Drupal, documenting technical issues for the vendor.
• Prepare documentation, procedures and training for web contributors.

Required profile

• High school diploma (or equivalent); a university degree reduces required experience.
• Minimum five years of progressive web‑related experience (three years with a degree).
• Strong knowledge of web accessibility, usability and SEO best practices.
• Commitment to gender equality and UN values.

Required skills

• Standards‑compliant HTML and CSS.
• Drupal content‑management system (minimum three years preferred).
• Experience with MemoQ or similar CAT tools.
• Image‑editing and web‑authoring tools.
