Consultant – Missing Migrants Assessment (Mauritania)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a consultant to lead a Missing Migrants Assessment for Mauritania. Based in Geneva, the consultant will work closely with government authorities, UN partners and civil‑society stakeholders to map the institutional framework and operational procedures related to missing migrants.

Key responsibilities

• Design and conduct a comprehensive assessment of the national response to missing migrants in Mauritania.
• Analyse institutional architecture, data flows, and coordination mechanisms.
• Identify gaps, challenges and capacity‑building needs.
• Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for the government and project partners.
• Facilitate workshops and stakeholder consultations to validate findings.

Required profile

• Proven experience in migration, humanitarian or development assessments.
• Familiarity with the Mauritanian context or similar West African settings.
• Strong analytical, writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to engage with government officials and multi‑stakeholder groups.
• Fluency in English; French is an advantage.
