Bioprocess Engineer – USP, DSP & BioConjugates

About the role

Lonza is seeking Bioprocess Engineers to support clinical and commercial manufacturing of therapeutic proteins and bio‑conjugates in Visp, Switzerland. The role can focus on upstream processing (USP), downstream processing (DSP) or bio‑conjugate manufacturing, depending on expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure operational activities for clinical/commercial manufacturing are performed on‑time, safely and within quality standards.
• Lead preparation, manufacturing execution, cleaning and change‑over in the assigned area.
• Manage defined USP areas such as seed train, main cultivation or harvest for mammalian or microbial expression systems.
• Oversee defined DSP steps like gain, polishing or filling for protein purification, and bio‑conjugate processes such as ADC production.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry or related life‑science field; Bachelor’s with relevant pharma production experience is acceptable.
• Knowledge of USP (e.g., bioreactors) or DSP (e.g., chromatography) units.
• Experience in biomanufacturing and GMP environments is an advantage.
• Excellent English communication; German is a plus.
