Chief of Preparedness and Humanitarian Response Division

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a senior leader to head its Preparedness and Humanitarian Response Division. Reporting to the Director of the Department for Humanitarian Response and Recovery and directly supervised by the Deputy Director, the Chief will drive the global implementation of IOM’s preparedness and response portfolio in line with the 2024‑2028 Strategic Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, coordination and execution of crisis preparedness and humanitarian response activities worldwide.
• Consolidate and enhance IOM’s capacities to anticipate, prepare for and respond to emergencies in a timely and principled manner.
• Ensure alignment of division work with IOM’s strategic objectives and with partner agencies.
• Oversee resource mobilization, budgeting and performance monitoring for the division.
• Represent IOM in high‑level coordination forums and maintain strategic relationships with governments, UN bodies and NGOs.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in humanitarian preparedness, emergency response or migration management at senior or senior‑managerial level.
• Proven leadership of large, multi‑disciplinary teams in complex, multi‑stakeholder environments.
• Strong understanding of UN system processes and international humanitarian standards.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse cultural contexts and to promote inclusive practices.
