COP Coordination Internship

About the role

The Governance Branch of the UN Environment Programme is seeking a motivated intern to support the preparation and execution of the 2027 Conferences of the Parties (COP) for the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions. This six‑month internship, based in Geneva, offers hands‑on experience in international environmental governance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and format meeting documents, reports, letters, presentations and training materials.
• Assist in organizing regional preparatory meetings, webinars, teleconferences and briefings.
• Support the planning of side events and other outreach activities.
• Develop outreach materials and web content for the conventions.
• Compile and format chairs’ notes and provide logistical support for training sessions.
• Offer general assistance to COP coordinators throughout the preparation and conduct of the 2027 meetings.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or have completed a postgraduate programme (master’s degree or higher).
• Relevant fields of study include business administration, public administration, international law, international environmental law, environmental management, political science, international relations or development studies.
• No prior professional experience required.
