About the role
Roche is seeking a Development Engineer to join its System Development department within R&D. The role focuses on automating laboratory workflows and integrating robotics solutions to support complex diagnostic systems.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement cobot/robotics concepts to automate laboratory operations toward a "dark lab" vision.
- Program, test, and maintain automated solutions using languages such as UR‑Polyscope, Python, C#/NET, and LabView.
- Support integration teams with installation and troubleshooting of robotics solutions in the lab environment.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute work packages, reporting progress and escalating issues as needed.
Required profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering or equivalent.
- Knowledge of professional software development and robotics/vision concepts.
- Excellent spoken and written English; German is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross‑functional team.
Required skills
- Programming: UR‑Polyscope, Python, C#/NET, LabView.
- Robotics and vision system knowledge.
- Experience with automation and tooling in a laboratory setting.
