Development Engineer (80-100% contract)

About the role

Roche is seeking a Development Engineer to join its System Development department within R&D. The role focuses on automating laboratory workflows and integrating robotics solutions to support complex diagnostic systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement cobot/robotics concepts to automate laboratory operations toward a "dark lab" vision.
• Program, test, and maintain automated solutions using languages such as UR‑Polyscope, Python, C#/NET, and LabView.
• Support integration teams with installation and troubleshooting of robotics solutions in the lab environment.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute work packages, reporting progress and escalating issues as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering or equivalent.
• Knowledge of professional software development and robotics/vision concepts.
• Excellent spoken and written English; German is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross‑functional team.

Required skills

• Programming: UR‑Polyscope, Python, C#/NET, LabView.
• Robotics and vision system knowledge.
• Experience with automation and tooling in a laboratory setting.
