DevOps Engineer – GitLab Service

About the role

You will join the Web, DevOps and Authoring section of the IT-PW group, responsible for services such as GitLab and AI coding tools used by CERN developers. The role focuses on operating, improving and supporting these services for the user community.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure smooth operation, maintenance and continuous evolution of the GitLab service.
• Identify, investigate and implement improvements and new functionalities for users.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate applications into CI/CD pipelines, troubleshoot issues and provide guidance on best practices.
• Provide and support modern AI coding tools for CERN developers, staying up‑to‑date with emerging technologies.

Required profile

• Experience with version control systems and CI/CD workflows.
• Hands‑on experience with container deployment and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools as a user; management experience is a plus.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical and communication skills.
• Commitment to user satisfaction and continuous service improvement.

What we offer

• Fixed‑term contract of 24 months, extendable up to 36 months.
