Director of Operations, Payments EMEA

About the role

Fireblocks is establishing a Liechtenstein‑based payment institution to provide Account Information Services (AIS) and Payment Initiation Services (PIS) across the EMEA region. The Director of Operations will be the controlling function, responsible for day‑to‑day operational soundness and acting as the primary contact with the Liechtenstein Financial Market Authority (FMA).

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the main point of contact with the FMA, manage supervisory relationships and ensure compliance with the licence conditions.
• Oversee the delivery of AIS and PIS services, including outsourcing governance of the intra‑group technology provider.
• Maintain business continuity and incident‑management frameworks, and act as escalation point for material disruptions.
• Work with Risk & Compliance to uphold AML/CFT, ICT and outsourcing controls and keep the risk register up to date.
• Lead commercial and financial governance of the entity, coordinating with group finance and signing off customer onboarding.

Required profile

• Proven operational leadership in a regulated financial institution such as a payment, e‑money, bank or crypto‑asset service provider.
• Experience with Liechtenstein or broader EEA regulatory environment, preferably including licence applications and regulator engagement.
• Strong background in payments, open‑banking (AIS/PIS) and related regulatory obligations.
• Familiarity with outsourcing governance and operating a licensed entity that relies on an intra‑group or third‑party technology provider.
• Ability to act as a controlling function before the FMA and work effectively across distributed teams.

What we offer

• Base salary range €150,000 – €205,000 per year.
