Head of Financial Planning, Advanced Analytics & AI

About the role

BBVA is seeking a senior leader to head Financial Planning, Advanced Analytics and AI. The role combines strategic financial planning with data‑driven insight generation to support executive decision‑making across the bank.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the end‑to‑end financial planning process, including budgeting, forecasting and long‑term strategic planning.
• Analyse financial and business data to produce actionable insights for senior management.
• Conduct root‑cause, profitability and value‑added analyses to identify performance improvement opportunities.
• Monitor business performance against strategic and financial targets and recommend corrective actions.
• Oversee peer benchmarking and market intelligence to assess trends and competitive positioning.
• Prepare and present financial results, forecasts and strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Ensure accuracy, consistency and governance of financial and management information.
• Develop and enhance reporting dashboards and analytical frameworks for data‑driven decisions.
• Promote adoption of advanced analytics, automation and AI within the Finance function.

Required profile

• Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• Significant experience in FP&A, Controlling or Business Performance Management.
• Proven track record leading budgeting, forecasting and management reporting in complex organisations.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Knowledge of advanced analytics, data‑driven decision‑making and AI applications in finance.
• Excellent attention to detail, data quality and information governance.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to develop high‑performing teams.
• Fluent in English and Spanish with strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
