Java Spring Boot Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Process Automation Engineer (Java / Spring Boot) to design and implement executable workflows using BPMN, CMMN and DMN on engines such as Camunda, Flowable or UiPath Maestro. The role combines process modelling, Java service development and integration with existing IT landscapes.

Key responsibilities

• Model executable workflows in BPMN 2.0, CMMN, and DMN and run them on a process engine.
• Develop clean, well‑tested Java and Spring Boot services that back the workflow tasks.
• Integrate services via REST APIs and message‑based communication, and tune the engine for performance and scale.
• Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to translate real‑world processes into robust, automated solutions.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Data Science or comparable qualification, or an IT apprenticeship.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in Java development with Spring Boot.
• Strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills and ability to work in an agile, international team.
• Fluent in English and C1 level German; willingness to travel for projects.

Required skills

• Java, Spring Boot, JUnit, Maven/Gradle, Git.
• RESTful services, JSON/XML, SQL, JPA/ORM.
• Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, ArgoCD, etc.).
• OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect.
• Experience with workflow engines (Camunda, Flowable, UiPath Maestro) and modelling notations (BPMN 2.0, CMMN 1.1, DMN 1.3).
