Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Nautica Technologies is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical design of its autonomous underwater robots. You will work hands‑on from concept through prototyping, testing and field deployment, collaborating closely with robotics, electronics, software and operations teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and improve mechanical systems and components for underwater robots.
• Maintain detailed CAD models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings.
• Drive design decisions with focus on manufacturability, reliability, serviceability and tolerance stack‑up.
• Select appropriate materials and solutions for harsh, corrosive marine environments.
• Integrate mechanical designs with electrical and software systems.
• Prototype, test, debug and support field deployments.
• Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to bring designs into production.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of hands‑on mechanical design experience.
• Strong CAD skills, preferably with Onshape.
• Experience with assemblies, tolerance analysis and GD&T.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability.
• Experience designing for harsh, corrosive and waterproof marine environments.
