Medical Safety Officer – Immunology

About the role

The Medical Safety Officer (MSO) for Immunology is a physician responsible for evaluating the safety of innovative medicine products throughout their lifecycle. Reporting to the Global Medical Safety organization, the MSO leads cross‑functional teams to ensure proactive safety surveillance, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Assess medical safety data for marketed and clinical‑development products within the assigned portfolio.
• Lead Safety Management Teams (SMT) to conduct signal detection, risk evaluation, and implementation of Risk Management Plans (RMP) and Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS).
• Communicate safety findings to senior leadership, health authorities, prescribers, and patients as required.
• Design and oversee risk‑mitigation strategies to support safe product use.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional partners to integrate safety insights into product development and commercialization.

Required profile

• Medical degree with board certification or equivalent experience in Medical Safety or Pharmacovigilance.
• Demonstrated experience leading safety assessments and risk‑management activities for pharmaceutical products.
• Strong understanding of global regulatory requirements for drug safety.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with senior executives and external stakeholders.
