Opto-Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Synova SA is seeking an Opto‑Mechanical Engineer to join its laser‑machine development team in Duillier, Switzerland. You will work on the design, prototyping and production of optical assemblies that are core to the company’s Laser MicroJet® technology.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical solutions for optical components and assemblies from concept to production drawings.
• Build, assemble and test optical prototypes hands‑on in the laboratory.
• Manage the Bill of Materials (BOM) for laser machines and optical sub‑assemblies, ensuring accuracy for sales and production.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, drawings and assembly documentation using SolidWorks.
• Collaborate with purchasing and suppliers to meet specification, cost and lead‑time targets.
• Support production during build, integration and alignment of optical systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, optics/photonics or a related field.
• Minimum three years of mechanical design experience with a 3D CAD package (SolidWorks preferred).
• Hands‑on experience with optics and opto‑mechanical assemblies, including mounting, alignment and tolerancing.
• Experience in BOM management and familiarity with ERP/PDM systems is an advantage.
• Proactive, detail‑oriented and strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Fluent in French and English; German is a plus.
• Swiss nationality or a valid Swiss work permit; preferably located along the Geneva‑Lausanne corridor.
