Project Manager - Industry 4.0 & Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking a Project Manager to lead cross‑functional development projects in a Factory 4.0 environment for a confidential manufacturing client in Zürich. You will bridge strategic vision and technical detail, steering complex programmes while staying connected to the shop floor.

Key responsibilities

• Lead structured execution of complex, cross‑functional development projects from kickoff to closure, ensuring transparency and disciplined governance.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary technical projects covering mechatronics, embedded systems, and system‑level integration.
• Apply project management tools, processes, and governance frameworks to keep programmes on track and stakeholders aligned.
• Serve as the central coordination point across engineering, production, quality, procurement, and product management.
• Prepare decision‑ready analyses, status reports, and steering documents for senior leadership.
• Proactively manage risks, issues, and change processes across complex projects.
• Contribute to Factory 4.0 initiatives such as connected equipment, digital twins, OEE monitoring, and data‑driven process improvement.
• Support process‑excellence efforts using PFMEA and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering & Business, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
• 5 to 8 years of experience driving complex, cross‑functional development projects.
• Strong understanding of business‑economic correlations, cost structures, and scenario evaluation.
• Proven track record coordinating stakeholders across engineering, production, quality, procurement, and product management.
• Fluent English; German is an asset.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with the MS Office suite.
• Experience with project portfolio management tools such as Planview.
• Lean Six Sigma methodology (Black Belt preferred).
• Industrial automation knowledge: PLC, SCADA, MES.
• Familiarity with IoT‑enabled manufacturing systems, digital twins, and OEE monitoring.
