Senior Mechanical Engineer – Robotics & Autonomous Systems

About the role

Airbotics is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of mechanical subsystems for its next‑generation autonomous robotic platform. The role combines hands‑on prototyping, testing, and product development in a fast‑moving engineering environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems and components for advanced robotic platforms.
• Own key subsystems from concept through testing, production, and field deployment.
• Create CAD models, assemblies, drawings and technical documentation.
• Drive design decisions focused on reliability, manufacturability, assembly and cost.
• Develop solutions for structures, actuation, power transmission, sealing and sensor integration.
• Prototype, test and troubleshoot designs in laboratory and field settings.
• Collaborate with software, electronics, robotics and operations teams.
• Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to support production.
• Support engineering best practices and continuous product improvement.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years experience developing complex mechanical or electromechanical systems.
• Proven track record taking products from concept through testing and deployment.
• Hands‑on engineering mindset with strong problem‑solving capability.
• Experience in robotics, automation or advanced engineering environments.

Required skills

• Onshape (or comparable CAD software).
• CAD modeling and assembly creation.
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance analysis.
• Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
• Work with machined components, polymers, sheet metal and complex assemblies.
