Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Internship

About the role

The International Trade Centre (ITC) is seeking a motivated intern to support its work on Small Island Developing States (SIDS). This remote, home‑based position will provide hands‑on experience in event coordination, research, and communications within a United Nations‑WTO joint agency.

Key responsibilities

• Assist ITC’s participation in key events such as the AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum, SIDS Global Business Network Forum, Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, and SheTrades Hubs Annual Meeting.
• Support planning for ITC’s SIDS engagement during the WTO Public Forum.
• Conduct research on thematic priorities for CHOGM and document ITC’s work in Commonwealth countries, focusing on SIDS, women’s economic empowerment, AfCFTA, critical minerals, youth empowerment, and digital trade.
• Gather and prepare success‑story material from SheTrades Hubs for use at SIDS‑related events.
• Provide research inputs to the Executive Director’s speechwriter for SIDS‑related speeches and talking points.

Required profile

• Current enrolment in a university programme related to international trade, development studies, economics, or a similar field.
• Strong analytical and writing abilities, with attention to detail.
• Interest in small‑island economies, gender equality, and trade policy.
• Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
