System Administrator – Game Studio (Equity Share)

About the role

We are looking for a System Engineer to build, maintain and improve the technical infrastructure that powers our early‑stage game studio. The position is equity‑share based and offers the chance to shape the studio’s backend from the ground up.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and enhance our self‑hosted Linux servers and virtualization platform (Proxmox).
• Support internal services such as Nextcloud, OpenProject, Git repositories and password managers.
• Configure networking components including DNS, VLANs, VPNs, routing, firewall rules and certificates (OPNsense or similar).
• Implement backup, restore testing, monitoring and basic disaster‑recovery procedures.
• Harden servers, control permissions and automate recurring tasks with Ansible.
• Deploy and maintain containerised workloads using Docker or Podman.
• Document systems and procedures to ensure knowledge sharing.
• Troubleshoot service outages, storage issues, and access problems.
• Plan infrastructure that can scale with the studio’s growth.

Required profile

• Strong Linux administration experience (Debian, Ubuntu, RHEL, AlmaLinux or similar).
• Solid understanding of networking basics – DNS, VLANs, VPNs, routing, firewalls and certificates.
• Hands‑on experience with Proxmox or another virtualization platform.
• Familiarity with self‑hosted services and basic backup, monitoring and security concepts.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues methodically and document changes.
• Clear communication skills and a proactive, ownership‑driven mindset.
