Administrative Internship – UNEP Finance Initiative

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) leads global environmental policy and promotes sustainable development. Within UNEP’s Finance Initiative, the Administrative Internship supports the Secretariat’s HR and administrative functions, contributing to the implementation of sustainable finance initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the HR focal point in reviewing consultant and intern Terms of Reference, ensuring compliance before submission.
• Support onboarding processes by liaising with interns and consultants to collect required documentation such as HR Minimasters, UMOJA forms, and CDL cards.
• Maintain and update both hard‑copy and electronic HR files, and compile documentation for contract processing and consultant payment.
• Track monthly deliverables, assist with payroll processing in UMOJA, and support invoicing and follow‑up with member institutions.
• Help organise intern meetings, coaching sessions, and travel request reviews, ensuring completeness before administrative approval.

Required profile

• Final‑year undergraduate or master’s student in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field, or recent graduate (within one year of graduation).
• Proof of enrolment or graduation date, and fluency in written and spoken English.
• Strong organizational, communication and writing skills, with attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Interest in HR and administrative processes; prior exposure is an advantage.
