Application Support Specialist - 2nd Level Support

About the role

Julius Baer is looking for an Application Support Specialist for 2nd-level support in its system engineering team in Zurich. The role ensures the smooth operation of core banking applications, working closely with incident managers, application service owners, 3rd-level support and business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Manage core banking applications at 2nd level and process incident tickets from monitoring systems and the local service desk within agreed SLAs
• Coordinate with incident managers, application service owners, 3rd-level support, IT and Agile teams and business stakeholders
• Take over periodic on-call duty (weekly 24/7 rotation)
• Handle change requests and take part in periodic releases, including weekend deployments
• Support batch job scheduling and monitoring (e.g. Automic AWA, Control-M)
• Use observability and logging tools such as Splunk, Grafana and Dynatrace to monitor system health and troubleshoot incidents
• Perform routine data cleansing, contribute to operational projects, and drive process optimization and automation, including handover to L1 (Control Center)
• Maintain application operation documentation and the knowledge base

Required profile

• Completed IT training (degree in Computer Science or equivalent IT-related certification)
• At least 2 years of professional experience in application support
• ITIL Foundation certification
• Experience in batch job support and scheduling tools (Automic AWA, Control-M or similar)
• Ideally experience in banking or financial services with knowledge of financial products
• Good written and spoken English; process-oriented, analytical, proactive and eager to learn

Required skills

• Solid Linux knowledge (shell scripting is an advantage)
• Solid understanding of Windows OS at server level
• Ability to run database operations and SQL queries
• Familiarity with Java application servers, databases and workload automation tools
• Experience with containerisation technologies, particularly Kubernetes
