Applied Behavioural Science Director

About the role

JTI is building a new science capability that sits at the intersection of product development, consumer experience, and human understanding. As the Applied Behavioural Science Director you will lead the creation of rigorous, science‑driven methods to uncover how adult consumers perceive, evaluate, and adopt reduced‑risk products.

Key responsibilities

• Define scientific methods, standards, and partnerships for the new capability.
• Design and oversee strategic research projects that integrate neuroscience, behavioural, sensory, and experience‑design sciences.
• Translate scientific insights into actionable product, experience, and commercial recommendations.
• Collaborate across product, marketing, and commercial teams to embed behavioural science into the innovation pipeline.
• Build a defensible, systematic understanding of attention, perception, emotion, memory, choice, and behaviour.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading interdisciplinary research teams in behavioural or neuroscience domains.
• Strong track record of applying scientific insights to product development and consumer experience.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally and influence senior stakeholders.
• Passion for innovation and reducing product‑related harm.

Required skills

• Expertise in neuroscience, behavioural science, sensory perception, or experience‑design research.
• Advanced knowledge of experimental design, data analysis, and scientific rigor.
• Experience with consumer insight generation and translation into product strategy.
