Area Manager - Logistics

About the role

MEDLOG, a logistics and supply chain provider present in over 90 countries and part of the MSC Group, is looking for an experienced Area Manager to oversee and support MEDLOG entities within the assigned region. The role covers regional strategy, performance monitoring, business development support and alignment with MEDLOG and MSC Group standards. The position is full-time, permanent and based in Geneva, with international travel required.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and adjust the overall strategy for the area and each entity, working with MEDLOG management and local teams.
• Provide direction to entities and oversee commercial, operational, financial and business development performance.
• Ensure standard operating procedures and a transparent procurement process follow MSC Group Procurement Guidelines.
• Ensure each entity has an appropriate HR management structure and follows MEDLOG Group employee policies.
• Coach the management team and support entities with special skills, legal support, network business, marketing and liaison work.
• Support reporting to MEDLOG and MSC Group senior management, including board files.
• Oversee risk management and keep the risk register up to date.
• Ensure financial controls follow MEDLOG global guidelines and compliance with local, global and MSC guidelines.
• Keep senior management informed of key performance, developments and events in the area.

Required profile

• Experience in containerized inland transportation is a must-have.
• Minimum 10 years of intermodal or freight-forwarding experience.
• Good understanding of financial statements and ability to handle data; independent and self-motivated.
• Proven ability to negotiate contracts, mediate disputes and resolve conflicts diplomatically.
• Team management in a multicultural environment, prioritisation and multi-tasking.
• EU citizenship or a valid Swiss work permit (B-C).

Required skills

• Excellent oral and written communication in English.
• Proficiency with MS Office products.
