Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) – Clinical Cancer Informatics

About the role
The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Bern, together with Inselspital University Hospital, invites applications for a non‑tenure‑track Assistant Professorship in Clinical Cancer Informatics. The four‑year endowed position will lead a research programme at the interface of oncology, data science and digital medicine, strengthening data‑driven, patient‑centred cancer research.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and lead an innovative research program in clinical cancer informatics.
- Advance standardized terminologies, interoperabilities and mapping strategies to harmonise heterogeneous data sources.
- Integrate heterogeneous clinical data sources and develop advanced analytical approaches.
- Contribute to AI‑based decision‑support tools for radiation and medical oncology.
- Strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration between clinical and computational disciplines.
- Secure competitive third‑party funding.
- Participate in undergraduate and graduate teaching and supervise early‑career researchers.
- Actively contribute to the strategic development of digital medicine at the Faculty of Medicine.
Required profile
- A medical degree (MD or equivalent) or PhD with strong clinical insight.
- Excellent research achievements in clinical informatics, data interoperability, standardisation or data science.
- Experience with real‑world medical data, AI or computational methods in healthcare.
- Strong interest in translational and interdisciplinary research.
- Demonstrated ability (or strong potential) to lead research teams.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work across disciplines.
- Fluency in English; German skills or willingness to acquire them.
