Associate Economic Affairs Officer – Entrepreneurship (Temporary)

About the role

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is seeking an Associate Economic Affairs Officer in the Entrepreneurship Section, Division of Investment and Enterprise. This temporary position supports enterprise development and entrepreneurship initiatives through analysis, intergovernmental support, and technical cooperation.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, evaluate and analyse socio‑economic data and statistics related to enterprise development and entrepreneurship.
• Maintain and organise databases and non‑quantitative information for internal use.
• Prepare briefing notes, speech inputs and first‑draft analytical studies for non‑specialist audiences.
• Support intergovernmental processes by drafting inputs for reports, summarising meetings and assisting in the organisation of panels and round‑tables.
• Compile data for technical cooperation project proposals under the Empretec programme and monitor project implementation.
• Organise workshops, awareness‑raising events and seminars, including those on new technologies such as artificial intelligence.
• Perform administrative tasks and undertake on‑the‑job training as required.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of entrepreneurship development and the role of artificial intelligence in this field.
• Good drafting ability and capacity to convey economic and development issues to non‑specialists.
• Solid grounding in economic theory and development topics.
