Associate Economic Affairs Officer – Trade & Market Intelligence

About the role

The International Trade Centre seeks an Associate Economic Affairs Officer to support its Trade and Market Intelligence (TMI) section. The role focuses on providing analytical support for value‑chain diagnostics and prioritisation, especially within African economies.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, evaluate, interpret and analyse socio‑economic statistics and qualitative information from diverse sources.
• Maintain databases and organise non‑quantitative information.
• Assist in designing, testing and modifying econometric models and quantitative indicators related to value‑chain participation, trade flows, product sophistication, market concentration, employment and environmental impact.
• Prepare briefing notes, speech inputs and first drafts of sector, country or regional analytical studies.
• Support the organisation of missions, country consultations, stakeholder meetings, panels and round‑tables on value‑chain development.
• Prepare documentation for technical cooperation programmes and projects.

Required profile

• Ability to collect, evaluate and analyse socio‑economic data.
• Experience maintaining databases and handling non‑quantitative information.
• Familiarity with econometric modelling and quantitative analysis methods.
• Skill in preparing briefing notes and analytical study drafts for non‑specialist audiences.
• Capability to support intergovernmental meetings and technical cooperation documentation.
