Backend Developer – Contract until Sep 2027

About the role

We are looking for a senior backend developer to join the global CoE Software Solutions team within Markets IT in Zurich. The role is a fixed‑term contract running until September 2027 with the possibility of extension, and you will work on mission‑critical financial platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high‑performance, secure and scalable backend services using C# and Java.
• Drive containerisation and modernisation efforts with Docker and Kubernetes on Microsoft Azure.
• Build and optimise APIs (gRPC, GraphQL) and integrate core systems with third‑party services.
• Work with MS SQL Server and MongoDB for data modelling, performance tuning and query optimisation.
• Implement event‑driven architectures using RabbitMQ.
• Collaborate with traders, business stakeholders and global development teams in Agile ceremonies and PI planning.
• Ensure code quality through peer reviews, automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
• Provide first‑line support for development and production environments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 10+ years of software development experience, including at least 5 years in backend development.
• Proven experience in large‑scale, enterprise‑grade systems, preferably in the financial services sector.
• Strong understanding of regulatory, security and low‑latency requirements.
