Backend Software Engineer (Java)

About the role

Shiftmove is looking for a Backend‑focused Software Engineer to help evolve Avrios, a core product used by thousands of companies managing vehicle fleets across Europe. You will design, build and ship production‑grade features while collaborating closely with product, design and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end feature development, from design to release, including LLM‑based document processing and OEM cloud integrations.
• Translate customer and business problems into scalable technical solutions.
• Partner with Product Managers and Designers to shape features and challenge assumptions.
• Participate in engineering decision‑making, evaluating trade‑offs and proposing solutions.
• Deliver features in a high‑frequency release cycle while improving system stability and reducing technical debt.
• Share knowledge and contribute to team learning and engineering best practices.

Required profile

• Strong computer‑science fundamentals and experience building production systems in Java.
• Ability to think in first principles, balance speed, scalability and complexity.
• Self‑driven ownership from idea to production in fast‑paced environments.
• Understanding of user needs and business impact of features.
• Quick learner, pragmatic decision‑maker and collaborative mindset.
