Bioprocess Engineer - DSP Manufacturing (m/f/d)

About the role

Lonza is hiring a Bioprocess Engineer for its DSP team in Visp, Switzerland. This is a fully site-based role focused on purifying life-saving therapies, working in person with colleagues in a high-performance environment. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates and their families.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as Bioprocess Engineer for DSP manufacturing, ensuring clinical and commercial campaigns run reliably within safety, quality and GMP requirements.
• Act as the main MES and manufacturing systems representative for the assigned DSP area, supporting recipe execution, troubleshooting, optimization and continuous improvement.
• Provide first-line support for DeltaV and MES, working with Operations, Automation, MSAT, QA and Technical Support to resolve process and system issues.
• Own, maintain and review electronic Batch Records (eBRs), recipes, workflows and GMP documentation.
• Lead investigations, deviations, CAPAs and change controls related to manufacturing systems and batch execution.
• Drive digitalization and process improvement, support process transfers, new product introductions and validation activities.
• Act as the interface between Production, Automation, MSAT, QA and Technical Services.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Biotechnology, (Bio)chemical Engineering, Life Sciences, Automation, Industrial Engineering or a related field; alternatively a Bachelor's degree with relevant biopharmaceutical manufacturing experience.
• Experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing with a strong understanding of DSP processes and GMP.
• Experience supporting manufacturing operations, troubleshooting issues and driving continuous improvement.
• Understanding of data integrity, change management, deviation management and GMP documentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent English communication; German is an advantage.
