Bioprocess Engineer (m/w/d) 80%-100%

About the role

Lonza is hiring a Bioprocess Engineer (80%-100%) for its site in Visp, Switzerland. This is a fully site-based position with no remote work, and relocation support is available for eligible candidates and their families. You will plan, execute and continuously improve GMP bioprocesses, working closely with Operations, MSAT, Quality and Engineering to ensure reliable, efficient and high-quality production of medicines.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and document GMP manufacturing campaigns in close collaboration with the Head of Operations.
• Provide technical and organizational support for GMP production, including training and coaching production personnel.
• Create, optimize and review GMP-related documentation such as EBRs, SOPs and work instructions.
• Handle deviations, change controls and CAPAs quickly and correctly, following a first-time-right approach.
• Monitor, analyze and report operational KPIs and drive improvements using Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen.
• Keep equipment and manufacturing areas qualified and compliant, troubleshoot issues and take part in on-call duty rotations.
• Execute and optimize cleaning processes and carry out risk assessments for SHE, operations, environmental monitoring and cleaning validation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biotechnology, Bioprocess Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences or a related field.
• Experience in a GMP-regulated environment in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals or life sciences.
• Strong knowledge of biotechnological manufacturing, GMP requirements and documentation standards.
• Experience with deviations, CAPAs, change controls and risk assessments.
• Excellent English and strong communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Analytical, structured and solution-oriented approach with strong technical understanding.
• Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement methods are an advantage.
