Bioprocess Engineer USP/DSP (Microbial) / BioConjugates

About the role

Lonza is seeking a Bioprocess Engineer to support upstream, downstream, and bio‑conjugate manufacturing in Visp, Switzerland. The role involves ensuring safe, high‑quality production for clinical and commercial batches while contributing to facility design and qualification.

Key responsibilities

• Execute operational activities for clinical and commercial manufacturing in compliance with cGMP standards.
• Serve as subject‑matter expert for design, commissioning, qualification, cleaning, and changeovers of new facilities.
• Lead specialized areas such as upstream processing, downstream processing, or bio‑conjugates.
• Perform batch execution, evaluate test results, troubleshoot equipment, and recommend resolutions.
• Review production documentation, manage deviations, change requests, and implement CAPAs.
• Develop and review automation recipes for equipment and facility components.
• Train production personnel and actively participate in audits and customer visits.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Process Engineering or related life‑science field; Bachelor’s degree with relevant pharmaceutical production experience is also acceptable.
• Experience in upstream, downstream, or bio‑conjugation technology, preferably in a cGMP environment.
• Strong English communication skills; German is a plus.
• Organized, goal‑oriented, motivated and problem‑solving attitude.
