Compliance Officer – Global Sanctions Advisory (80-100%)

About the role

Join Julius Baer as a Compliance Officer focusing on Global Sanctions Advisory, working between 80% and 100% capacity. You will be part of the centre of competence for sanctions matters, ensuring the group‑wide Sanctions Compliance Programme is effectively executed and continuously improved.

Key responsibilities

• Provide guidance on international sanctions and embargoes, advising on financial products and services affected.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments, implement applicable laws, and ensure adherence to UN, US, UK, EU and CH sanctions regimes.
• Collaborate with local compliance teams across the group to transfer know‑how and support policy decisions.
• Prepare internal guidelines, alerts, and control designs, and conduct training on sanctions for all lines of defense.

Required profile

• Completed bank apprenticeship or university degree (Bachelor/Master) in Law, Economics, Political Science, Audit or Finance.
• Several years of experience in sanctions, embargoes, legal, compliance, risk or related banking functions.
• Business‑fluent English and strong analytical, proactive work ethic.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of international sanctions (CH, EU, US, UK, UN) and their business impact.
• Experience with financial products/services impacted by sanctions and implementation of related restrictions in bank systems.
• Flair for IT, AI and database know‑how; advanced knowledge of MS Office.
