Control & Flight Test Engineer

About the role

You will develop and test control, state‑estimation and computer‑vision algorithms for high‑speed kinetic interceptor drones, ensuring successful target interception and safe operation in real‑world deployments.

Key responsibilities

• Design and validate low‑latency guidance and control strategies for interceptor drones.
• Advance multi‑sensor fusion algorithms for accurate state estimation.
• Verify and test new computer‑vision approaches and low‑level control software/hardware changes.
• Analyse flight‑test data, evaluate performance, and report risks and issues to the R&D team.

Required profile

• PhD or MSc in Robotics, Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field (e.g., ETH Zürich or equivalent) with a strong academic record.
• Strong analytical mindset, comfortable with classical & optimal control, Kalman filtering, and SE(3) transformations.
• Hands‑on experience with flight testing, rapid iteration, and ownership of field tests.
• Willingness to travel frequently and work long hours when mission‑critical.

Required skills

• Python programming and Linux environment.
• Control theory, Kalman filtering, state estimation, linear algebra.
• Computer‑vision algorithm development.
• ROS2, PX4, Ardupilot, real‑time robotics software (nice‑to‑have).
• Simulation frameworks such as Gazebo or Isaac Sim (nice‑to‑have).
