Data Scientist - Non-Financial Risk Analytics

About the role

Julius Baer is looking for a Data Scientist to join its Analytics and Transformation team within a global Compliance organisation in the wealth management industry. You will work alongside Risk, Compliance, Analytics and Legal subject matter experts to implement new technologies, manage change initiatives, develop predictive models and carry out financial and economic analysis to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support data analytics and business intelligence initiatives, focusing on non-financial risk such as anti-money laundering, client review, fraud and sanctions.
• Collaborate with internal IT and external providers to run in-depth analyses and identify best-in-class solutions, using the Compliance Analytics and Transformation in-house infrastructure.
• Design, develop, monitor and document predictive models following industry best practices and a sound theoretical foundation.
• Work with senior stakeholders to design quantitative solutions that optimise banking processes.
• Assess and manage change requests raised by the business, and carry out regular and ad-hoc analysis and reporting.

Required profile

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, mathematics).
• At least 5 years of banking experience focused on compliance, risk management and legal.
• Proven experience managing audit and regulatory expectations.
• Ability to turn complex solutions and data insights into a clear story for the wider organisation.
• Agile mindset, curiosity, team spirit and strong English; other languages are an advantage.

Required skills

• Database programming, e.g. SQL.
• Programming in Python, R or Java.
• Project management or business analysis experience.
