Development Engineer (contract)

About the role

Join Roche's System Development department to work on nucleic acid purification, PCR and sequencing diagnostics systems. You will perform hands‑on experiments, hardware and software testing, and contribute to system verification in a cross‑functional, global environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute work packages, report progress and escalate issues.
• Act as subject‑matter expert, provide guidance to team members and generate documentation, procedures and technical reports.
• Design and run experiments in biosafety level S1/S2 labs, create and execute test cases, analyse results and produce regulatory documents.
• Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing hardware and software, and track issues through verification.
• Coordinate with hardware, software, consumables and assay development teams.

Required profile

• Degree in a life‑science discipline (biology, biotechnology, biomedical informatics, engineering) or equivalent experience.
• Interest in solving technical problems, interdisciplinary teamwork and working in a highly regulated environment.
• Experience in laboratory diagnostics or service & support is an asset.
• Good communication skills in English; German is a strong asset.
