DevOps Engineer (Groupware Focus)

About the role

Join a high‑security Cyber Defense team in Bern, working on mission‑critical infrastructure that powers secure communication and collaboration services for national critical infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy and operate open‑source groupware, email hosting, file sharing, messaging and online document editing services.
• Build and maintain Linux‑based infrastructure and containerised applications in a private on‑premise cloud.
• Integrate and operate identity and directory services such as LDAP, OIDC and authentication mechanisms.
• Automate provisioning, configuration and deployment with Terraform and Ansible.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deploy applications on Kubernetes.
• Operate supporting services including databases, storage, monitoring, logging, backup and recovery.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across application, container, OS and networking layers.
• Continuously improve reliability, security, automation and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, IT or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong hands‑on Linux system administration experience.
• Experience operating self‑hosted email, groupware or collaboration platforms in production.
• Solid understanding of networking and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, IMAP, HTTP, TLS).
• Swiss citizenship is required.
