Director, Portfolio Analytics

About the role

The Director, Portfolio Analytics leads major portfolio analytics workstreams that inform enterprise, franchise, therapeutic area (TA) and senior leadership decisions. The role shapes analytical approaches, interprets portfolio-level implications, advises stakeholders on value and trade-offs, and ensures portfolio insights are rigorous, timely, strategically framed and actionable. It sits within the Pharmaceutical Decision Analytics (PDA) function.

Key responsibilities

• Lead portfolio reviews, long-range portfolio assessments, prioritization exercises, TA/franchise analyses and enterprise-level portfolio decision support.
• Shape analytical methodologies for portfolio prioritization, valuation, risk, scenario planning, pipeline sizing and value optimization.
• Interpret portfolio dynamics, risks, opportunities and trade-offs for senior stakeholders and act as a senior PDA thought partner for enterprise, franchise, TA and EPI stakeholders.
• Lead development of senior-ready materials that turn complex analyses into clear recommendations and decision narratives.
• Mentor Associate Directors and colleagues in analytical framing, communication, stakeholder management and portfolio methodology.
• Drive continuous improvement of PDA tools, systems, reporting and analytical standards.

Required profile

• Degree in business (MBA preferred) or an advanced scientific degree.
• Significant pharmaceutical industry experience with exposure to research, development and/or commercialization.
• Deep experience with R&D portfolio analytics, valuation, forecasting, prioritization or scenario planning.
• Ability to lead complex analyses, influence senior stakeholders in a matrixed environment and coach others.
• Track record of improving analytical methods, tools, processes or team capabilities.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
