Director, Technology & Engineering for Software and Workflows

About the role

Lead the technology and engineering function that transforms emerging technologies and scientific ambition into AI‑enabled software solutions that accelerate drug discovery. The role combines strategic technical leadership with delivery accountability across a broad portfolio of time‑bound software initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Set a compelling technical direction that aligns engineering priorities with scientific impact and organizational strategy.
• Build and coach high‑performing engineering managers, technical leaders and AI engineering capabilities.
• Champion responsible integration of AI tools and agents into modern engineering practices.
• Advance scalable architecture, DevOps, CI/CD, test automation, observability and operational excellence.
• Ensure compliance with security, regulatory and responsible AI governance standards.
• Partner with architecture, operations, security, compliance and vendor teams to deliver coordinated outcomes.

Required profile

• Significant experience leading technology functions and multidisciplinary software teams in a global, matrixed environment.
• Strong learning mindset, curiosity about emerging technologies and ability to turn insights into action.
• Strategic agility to connect long‑term direction with near‑term priorities and adapt to evolving circumstances.
• Proven track record delivering large‑scale SaaS, cloud‑based, on‑premises and custom software with measurable impact.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, able to engage senior leaders and simplify complex technical topics.
