Doctoral Fellowships in Architecture and Technology

About the role

The Architecture & Technology (A&T) Doctoral Programme at ETH Zurich is an interdisciplinary platform for training scholars in research and teaching of technology in architecture. It offers two paid, full-time (100%) fellowships of 3.5 years starting on 1 October 2027. Candidates join one of six professorships (Architecture and Digital Fabrication, Architecture and Structures, Structural Design, Digital Building Technologies, Architecture and Building Systems, Construction Heritage and Preservation, Architecture and Human Augmentation) and work in the Arch_Tec_Lab.

Required profile

• A university-level Master's degree in architecture, engineering or a related field (MSc, MEng, MArch).
• Proficiency in English; certificates are not formally required.
• Applicants are advised to check the ITA professorships' websites so their research interests match.

Required skills

• Career plans and reasons for pursuing a doctorate in Architecture & Technology at ETH Zurich.
• Research proposal identifying the main research topic and summarised outline.
• Portfolio of project work and short research articles, if available.
